Katherine R. Rizzo

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Katherine R. Rizzo, DO, specializes in TMS and has been certified in Neurostar TMS therapy since 2019. Her passion is helping patients get relief from depression, anxiety, OCD, and other mental health issues so they can find the happiness they deserve.

Dr. Rizzo is a board certified psychiatrist who graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Microbiology and Cell Science and from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rizzo served as Chief Resident of the University of South Florida Psychiatry Residency Program. She has a particular interest in Integrative Psychiatry (a holistic approach that utilizes both conventional and complementary therapies in the treatment of psychiatric disorders) and completed a distance education program with the University of Arizona on Integrative Medicine in Psychiatry.

At the University of South Florida, Dr. Rizzo served on the following professional committees: USF Psychiatry Resident and Medical Student Education Committee, University Psychiatry Center Benzodiazepine Review Committee, USF Grand Rounds Subcommittee, and the USF Recruitment Committee.

Her professional affiliations include the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Hirely Martinez

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hirely Martinez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who, is excited to head up TMS Advantage’s Integrative TMS program which combines Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with behavioral and cognitive therapy only a licensed counselor can provide. Her focus is on direct TMS patient care as well as continued research in this rapidly evolving field. In conjunction with Dr. Rizzo, Hirely leads a qualified team of compassionate, professional TMS treaters here to help you. Support, guidance, goal setting, and encouragement, along with an individualized treatment plan, are provided to each patient on their TMS journey at TMS Advantage.

Hirely is an educator, advocate, and activist, who graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of South Florida prior to pursuing her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. She has worked as a therapist for several years in various settings including in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, addiction rehabilitation facility, and outpatient clinic. Hirely specializes in cultural competency for the LGBTQ+ community and has provided training to various facilities within the Tampa Bay area. She presented at the 2019 Florida Behavioral Health Conference on working with LGBTQ+ clients, the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association in 2020 on substance use among college students and young adults, and the 2022 Florida Behavioral Health Conference on utilizing DBT when working with special populations.

Ashley Newman

TMS Treater / Coordinator

Ashley serves as our full-time certified Neurostar TMS treater. She takes the time to develop a deep understanding of each TMS patient and excels at offering support, motivation, and encouragement. Additionally, Ashley takes charge of organizing special events for our TMS patients, such as yoga nights, painting nights, and walk-and-talk events. With over 15 years of experience in the medical industry, Ashley brings a vast amount of knowledge to her role.

Nikki Hervey

CFO / TMS Treater

One of the founders of Advantage TMS and Advantage Mental Health, Nikki has worked in the mental health field for over 8 years. She enjoys interacting with patients on their TMS journey and serves as a Neurostar certified TMS treater.

Suzi Hervey

CIO / TMS Treater

One of the founders of Advantage TMS and Advantage Mental Health, Suzi serves as a Neurostar certified TMS treater. She is proud to help those seeking help for their depression, anxiety and OCD issues and looks forward to working with each unique patient.

Racine Alequin

LMHC, MCAP, NCC

Racine Alequin, LMHC, MCAP, NCC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Masters-Certified Addiction Professional, and holds the National Certified Counselor designation. She has been a counselor for over 12 years and has worked in outpatient, inpatient, hospital and community settings.

Racine can provide individual support to those on the TMS journey.

Highlights about Racine:

  • Her therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Reality Therapy
  • Experience working with the following clients:
    • depression, anxiety, relationship/co-dependency, general mental health concerns

    • post-traumatic stress and other trauma-related disorders
    • conduct disorders
    • LGBTQI
    • legal involvement

Racine has a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John’s University, is a credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology with a minor in Psychology from the University of South Florida. Additionally, Racine also has a graduate certification in Forensic Criminology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Racine works closely with Advantage’s psychiatrist, Dr. Rizzo, our nurse practitioners and our TMS providers to provide a full continuum of care, including medication for all mental health issues and medication assisted treatment for those with substance use disorders (Vivitrol, buprenorphine, naltrexone).

CATHI STEPHENS, ARNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Cathi Stephens, APRN, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with 25 years’ experience in the health care industry. Cathi helps those participating in TMS therapy manage their medications. Cathi is expertly trained to treat and diagnose a wide variety of mental illnesses with special concentrations in the geriatric population, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and alcohol/substance use disorders.

Cathi has worked as a Director of Skill Nursing Substitution at Home program, as an educator for staff nurses on how to effectively use telehealth programs, and as an intensive care nurse. She has served in a clinical capacity at BayCare Medical Group and Health Services, the Diagnostic Clinic, and for Pinellas County government.

She graduated with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Florida and received her psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner degree from Regis College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Cathi’s serene, welcoming manner, combined with her superior knowledge and expertise of mental health conditions, allow her to provide the best care possible for our TMS patients.

Jennifer Self, PhD, LMHC, ARNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Jennifer Self, APRN is a psychiatric nurse practitioner (APRN) and a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). She has a doctoral degree in couple and family therapy and a master’s degree in nursing from Saint Louis University.

Jennifer is a former director and assistant director of two collegiate mental health centers and has been a faculty member at several colleges including Galen College of Nursing.

Jennifer has extensive experience providing mental health counseling and psychiatry services to our TMS patients. Her unique blend of counseling and medication prescribing experience make her a wonderful resource to our TMS patients.
She utilizes a compassionate, holistic and evidenced-based approach that incorporates elements of CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, positive psychology, and more.
